Investigators: No foul play was involved in the blazes at Sauced and Madeline's

The Evansville Fire Department has determined the causes of two fires that damaged downtown restaurants. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

One of the blazes struck Sauced at 1113 Parrett St. on Christmas Day.

EFD Deputy Chief Kim Garrett says investigators determined it was an accidental electrical fire that started in a second-floor apartment above the Italian restaurant.

Less than 48 hours later, a blaze damaged Madeline’s Fusion Restaurant at 423 SE Second St.

Garrett says investigators determined that fire was likely caused by common combustibles being too close to a heat source.

There was no word of any connection between the two fires.
