CenterPoint: Customer Outages Down to About 5,000 in SW Indiana

NWS Paducah

Restoration efforts continue as a new winter storm approaches

Thousands more people have their power restored after a major effort yesterday (Wed). WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

CenterPoint Energy says its crews and mutual aid workers turned the power back on for more than 11,000 customers in southwest Indiana on Wednesday.

The company’s outage map shows about 5,000 were still in the dark and cold Thursday morning.

CenterPoint says it now hopes to have everyone back on the grid by the end of the day Thursday.

The earlier goal was Friday.

Meanwhile, Kenergy continues to restore power in its service area of western Kentucky with about 600 customers still out.

The restoration efforts continues as a new storm approaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Evansville area.

It goes into effect at midnight tonight (Thur) and runs until midnight tomorrow (Fri).

The new storm should be a snow event – not an ice storm – with 3 to 5 inches of the white stuff possible.
