Evansville Firefighters Rescue Dog

Fire

Crews safely removed the canine from Tuesday's house fire on Madison Avenue

Evansville firefighters rescued a dog from burning home this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Crews entered the two-story house at 817 Madison Avenue on Tuesday and safely removed the dog.

No people were inside the house and no injuries were reported.

About 15 minutes into the incident, crews were ordered out of the burning house due to worsening fire conditions.

EFD Deputy Chief Kim Garrett says a frozen hydrant hampered water supply and crews remained on scene for more than five hours.

Garrett says power had reportedly been restored to the house prior to the fire.

She says it appears to have started on the first floor and quickly spread upstairs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
