CenterPoint Energy presented a nearly $1.2 million check to the Evansville Vanderburgh school board Monday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
CenterPoint says the check is for more than 80 energy efficiency projects across the school district.
CenterPoint Vice President Natalie Hedde says the utility company is happy to work with the EVSC to “identify opportunities for energy savings, while assisting in the enhancement of the spaces where students learn and educators work.”
The improvements include energy-saving lighting systems, modernization of HVAC systems, boiler and chiller system improvements, and energy-efficient kitchen equipment in school cafeterias.
EVSC Superintendent Dr. David Smith says the energy efficiency improvements not only help reduce costs but also “create a better learning environment for our students.”
CenterPoint says it offers a variety of energy efficiency programs for both commercial and residential customers.
