Jury Convicts Boyd of New Year's Murder

File

The jury found Christopher Boyd Jr. guilty of fatally shooting Jerry Hale

A jury has convicted an Evansville man of murder. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The jury found Christopher Boyd Jr. guilty Wednesday afternoon.

He was convicted of fatally shooting 34-year-old Jerry Hale on East Riverside Drive on New Year’s Day.

The trial started Monday.

After the state rested on Tuesday, Boyd’s defense made a motion for a directed verdict but it was denied.

Boyd is scheduled to be sentenced December 19th.

Authorities say he had been convicted of attempted murder in a separate 2011 case out of Chicago, with other convictions for burglary and domestic battery.
