Forecasters are predicting a warm-up this weekend, but they’re also looking ahead to a post-Thanksgiving cold wave. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Thursday's cold front dropped daytime temperatures into the 30’s and brought rain and snow showers to the region.
But the National Weather Service is already warning of much colder air moving into the Tri-State as soon as next Friday.
Forecasters say they’re “becoming concerned” about the potential cold wave from November 29th through December 5th.
While things are still subject to change, the weather service says it looks like the coldest temperatures of the season by far will move in.
Forecasters warn of high temperatures in the 30’s, low temperatures in the teens, and single-digit wind chills.
The weather service says agencies who serve the unhoused population and other vulnerable people should prepare for multiple days of potentially dangerous cold, beginning next Friday.
