Mother Convicted of Starving Baby

File

A Warrick County jury found Caylin Monroe guilty in the death of her three-month-old son

A jury has convicted a Warrick County woman of starving her baby. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The jury found Caylin Monroe guilty of Murder and Neglect of a Dependant Resulting in Death at the end of a ten-day trial.

Police arrested Monroe and the infant’s father, Jakob Scott, in 2022 after their 3-month-old son was found deceased.

Scott faces trial next month.

The prosecution said Monroe created a feeding plan for her children but admitted to police she sometimes missed feedings and would forget about the baby if he was quiet.

Prosecutors said Monroe also told police she knew her baby was underweight, but didn’t take him to a hospital because she feared officials would take away her kids.

Monroe’s sentencing is scheduled for November 15th.
