A Gibson County man is in jail accused of killing his wife and putting her body in the Wabash River. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Deputies arrested 42-year-old Daniel Keith Flaherty of rural Patoka.
Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven says Flaherty’s arrest followed an investigation of 36-year-old Kayla Flaherty’s disappearance.
Daniel Flaherty had reported her missing.
Authorities say Kayla Flaherty’s body was found in the Wabash River in a remote area of Knox County.
Daniel Flaherty is accused of attacking his wife with a hammer, taking her body to the river in her SUV, setting fire to the vehicle, and rigging it to drive into the Wabash.
Vanoven thanked Indiana State Police, Vincennes Police and other law enforcement officers and agencies that worked “nearly around the clock” in the case.
Flaherty was due in court Monday.
