Wind Threat Increases in Tri-State

NWS Paducah

The remnants of Hurricane Helene have prompted wind and flood advisories

The remnants of Helene are bringing both high winds and heavy rain to the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service says the storm is moving slightly faster than originally forecast, which may reduce rainfall amounts slightly and increase the high winds.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Evansville area and Dubois County is included in a High Wind Warning.

Forecasters in Paducah say gusts of 45 to 55 mph are possible throughout the Tri-State, with possibly higher gusts in the Jasper area.

Three-to-four inches of rain are still possible by late Saturday, prompting a Flood Watch for the Tri-State.

Rain will slowly diminish over the weekend, but a chance of rain continues through Sunday.
