NWS: Hellene to Dump Heavy Rain on Tri-State

NWS

Forecasters predicting 3-to-4 inches in the Evansville area

Forecasters are warning of heavy rain and gusty winds as the remnants of Hurricane Hellene move into the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service is predicting rainfall totals of 3-to-4 inches in the Evansville, Henderson and Owensboro area.

The Madisonville area could see 4-to-5 inches.

Forecasters say the best chance for tropical downpours will be Thursday night through Friday night.

The weather service says because the region has been in a drought, most rivers and streams should be able to handle the heavy rain, but localized flooding is possible.

The storm’s winds will ease by the time it reaches our area but forecasters say we could still see gusts of more than 30 miles an hour.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast through the weekend.
