Tropical Storm May Drop Needed Rain on Area

NWS

The remnants of Francine are expected to reach the Tri-State later this week

Will Tropical Storm Francine bring needed rain to the Tri-State? WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:

The storm is forecast to make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday, bringing with it a dangerous storm surge.

The remnants of Francine are expected to move into the Evansville area later this week.

The National Weather Service says heavy rain will be possible but it’s too soon to know how much relief the storm may bring.

In the meantime, forecasters say the dry conditions continue to create a heightened risk of fire.

Officials say much of the region is in a “moderate drought.”

Burn bans remain in effect in southwestern Indiana.
