EPD: Ali Murray, 22, faces a charge of felony battery against a child

Police have arrested an Evansville man accused of beating his three-month-old son. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Evansville Police say officers were called to the Deaconess Gateway Emergency Room for a battery report on an infant.

The mother told police the child’s father, 22-year-old Ali Murray, returned the baby, after he couldn’t get the boy to fall asleep.

EPD Officer Taylor Merriss says the mother told officers she changed the child’s diaper and found numerous bruises on the baby.

At the hospital, police say medical staff conducted tests and x-rays revealing the child had multiple brain bleeds and fractures to his skull, legs and right arm.

The child was flown to an out-of-town hospital for more extensive treatment.

The EPD says detectives and officers questioned Murray and his girlfriend about their time with the child that evening.

Police say Murray showed little emotion and didn’t ask about the baby’s condition.

As a result of the interviews and evidence, police arrested Murray on a charge of Battery on a Victim Less than 14, a level 3 felony.

Police say the little boy also had a busted lip, bruising to the gums, forehead, neck, and stomach area.

Murray was booked into the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center.
