Evansville Police were on the scene in the 1600 block of S. Bedford Ave. for several hours

Police have arrested two people after an hours-long standoff in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 1600 block of S. Bedford on Sunday.

The man reportedly came out of his house with a shotgun after arguing with a group of people and raised the gun.

Police surrounded the home and ordered the occupants to come out,

The EPD says 59-year-old Charles Hardin came out and was taken into custody.

A police affidavit says Hardin was shouting, refusing to answer questions, and not listening to his Miranda Rights.

He also reportedly tried to get away from police when they were putting him inside a squad car.

A woman was still inside of the home.

The EPD says officers obtained a search warrant and found 32-year-old Bresha Williams hiding under blankets.

Hardin faces charges of resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, intimidation with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer.

Williams was charged with obstruction of justice and a petition to revoke probation for battery against a child.

They’re both being held without bond at the Vanderburgh County jail.
