The first roundabouts in Henderson are expected to open in the coming days. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
Ohio River crossing officials say two roundabouts are scheduled to open at the reconstructed KY 351/2nd Street interchange as soon as this Saturday.
The two roundabouts will open in a temporary configuration with construction continuing in the area until late this year.
Officials say both roundabouts will be open to a single lane of traffic with drivers using the outside lane.
They say the single lane configuration will offer motorists an opportunity to adjust to driving the new roundabouts.
Officials say even in a temporary configuration, opening the roundabouts is expected to improve traffic flow along 2nd Street.
The third roundabout, closest to Henderson County High School, remains under constructon and will not operate as a roundabout until later this year.
