Evansville Police say a social media post reporting a missing child is a fake. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The EPD says the post falsely claims the boy is missing from Evansville.
The department says thankfully, the child is not missing and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children there’s no active missing or Amber Alert on the child.
The EPD says it appreciates how caring the local community is and thanked those who expressed concerns about the post.
The department says it will always post urgent information, including missing and endangered children, on its Facebook page.
The EPD shared the fake post and labeled it a “scam.”
The department also covered the boy’s face to protect his identity.
