Heat and Humidity to be Followed by Storms

NWS Paducah

A Heat Advisory continues through Tuesday with the heat index in triple digits

Intense heat is forecast to be followed by strong storms this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Tri-State.

It’s in effect through Tuesday.

Forecasters are predicting highs in the mid-90’s, with humidity levels boosting the heat index to 105-to-110 degrees.

The weather service urges everyone to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, take advantage of air conditioning, limit time in the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.

Scattered thunderstorms may provide limited relief from the heat Tuesday afternoon, before thunderstorms become likely Tuesday night and Wednesday ahead of a strong cold front.

By Thursday, forecasters say high temperatures will top out in the low-to-mid-80’s, with lower humidity levels.
