The coroner's office identifies the victims as Regina Hinkel, 76, and Mark Alan Jeffers, 61

Authorities have released the names of a man and woman killed in a Fourth of July accident in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says 76-year-old Regina Hinkel and 61-year-old Mark Alan Jeffers, both of Evansville, died after they were hit by an SUV.

It happened at about 8:30 Thursday night on Fulton Avenue near Florida St.

Evansville Police said Hinkel and Jeffers were crossing the street when they were struck.

Medics performed CPR but both victims died at the scene.

The coroner’s office says Hinkel and Jeffers died of “multiple blunt force trauma.”

Police said they spoke with the driver who submitted to a blood draw and no arrest has been made.
