A federal judge has sentenced an Evansville man to eight years in prison for a firearm violation. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
33-year-old Christopher Scott Poodry was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after he serves the eight years, following his guilty plea to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors say Poodry got into an argument with a neighbor outside of his Evansville home about a year ago.
Police said during the argument, Poodry went inside, retrieved a rifle, and pointed it at the neighbor.
Police say officers later found the rifle hidden in the home with more than 71 rounds of ammunition.
Poodry is prohibited from legally possessing a firearm because of multiple prior felony convictions in Warrick County, including dealing methamphetamine and battery against a public safety official.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Evansville Police Department, and Vanderburgh County Prosecutors Office investigated the case.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard L. Young sentenced Poodry.
