The Stone Family Center for Health Sciences in Downtown Evansville

The med school opened in 2018

Officials say the medical school in Downtown Evansville has had a positive economic impact on the region. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Evansville Regional Economic Partnership has released findings from a study of the Stone Family Center for Health and Life Sciences.

E-REP says the center has become “the focal point of progress in the Evansville region’s health and life sciences sector.”

The findings show the Stone Center has contributed nearly $1 billion to the regional economy between 2013 and 2022.

The study cites the combined forces of healthcare, education, and technology.

E-REP says the study also foresees a bright future for the Evansville region as a statewide and national leader in child and adolescent psychiatry.

The Stone Center hosts medical programs from Indiana University, the University of Southern Indiana, and the University of Evansville.

For that reason, Tyler Stock of Talent EVV at E-REP says it can be difficult to get an exact number of students attending classes at the Stone Center.

Stock estimates about 500 graduate-level students take classes there.
