The Evansville area faces a slight risk of severe storms Wednesday and a bigger risk on Sunday. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The National Weather Service says Wednesday’s risk level is at 2 on a scale of 1-to-5, with 5 being the highest risk.
Forecasters in Paducah say if storms develop along a slow moving front Wednesday afternoon they will likely be capable of large hail and isolated wind damage.
They say the tornado threat is relatively low.
Heavy rain can be expected with storms that develop and pockets of flash flooding will be possible in any areas that see multiple storms.
The weather service says a more organized severe weather event is possible on Sunday.
While big shifts in the forecast are possible this far out, forecasters call the current picture for Sunday “concerning.”
They encourage everyone with outdoor plans this weekend to have a severe weather safety plan in place.
