The West Side incident prompted a police escort to Deaconess Midway

A one-year-old boy is being treated at a hospital after falling into a backyard swimming pool on the West Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

It happened Friday in the 400 block of Elm Avenue, off Hogue Road.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies, Perry Township firefighters and Scott Township EMS responded to the scene.

Authorities blocked roads in the area while CPR was performed on the child.

Officers escorted the ambulance to Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

The child’s name and condition were not available.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the incident.

There’s no word of any suspected foul play.
