Harbinger of Spring: Daylight Saving Time

File

Clocks should be set ahead one hour Sunday morning

The Tri-State springs forward this weekend. WNIN’s John has this reminder:

The Evansville area returns to Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Clocks that don’t automatically make the change should be set ahead one hour Saturday night or Sunday morning -- otherwise you’ll be running an hour behind.

Daylight Saving Time lasts 240 days, longer than Standard Time -- which will return Nov. 3rd.

Some lawmakers have pushed for making Daylight Saving Time permanent.

They say the added evening daylight will lead to a reduction in crime, a potential reduction in energy usage, and diminished health risks.

But critics say it will mean darker mornings and will play havoc with people’s circadian rhythms.

For now, most of the U.S. is sticking with the twice-a-year time change.
