Fires were set in the yard, boards with nails were set-up on the doorstep, and a vehicle was spray-painted

Evansville Police are investigating a potentially dangerous incident at an Evansville home early Monday. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, the culprit apparently targeted the wrong house:

Evansville police and firefighters were called to the home in the 1100 block of Lodge Ave., where parts of the front yard appeared to be set on fire.

EPD Sgt. Anna Gray says the resident of the home also reported the suspect left boards with nails sticking out of them on the front doorstep and spray painted her vehicle.

Officers also found two plastic bottles lying under the rear tire of the victim’s vehicle.

The bottles contained a suspicious liquid so officers blocked traffic and set up a perimeter around the house.

The EPD’s Hazardous Device Unit rendered the devices safe.

Gray says specific names were spray painted on the victim’s vehicle so it’s believed the home was specifically targeted, but investigators say the suspect apparently made a mistake and targeted the wrong address.

No one was injured.

Anyone with more information about the incident is urged to contact detectives at 812-436-7979 or the EPD Tip Line at 812- 435-6194.
