Shane Hedrick, 25, is accused of hitting his 6-month-old and then finding the boy deceased hours later

A Vanderburgh County man is accused of causing the death of his six-month-old son. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 25-year-old Shane Hedrick after the baby was found deceased in his home in northwest Vanderburgh County.

Authorities say Hedrick admitted striking and injuring his son Thursday morning and finding the child deceased in his crib several hours later.

The sheriff’s office says Hedrick attempted CPR before first responders arrived. They took over life-saving measures but were unsuccessful in reviving the infant.

Deputies described conditions in the home “deplorable” including trash and debris, insect activity, and animal urine and feces.

Hedrick faces charges including Domestic Battery against a Family Member less than 14-years-old and Neglect of Dependent causing Death.
