Just one day after an Evansville judge announced his impending retirement, a local state representative says he’s seeking the position. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Ryan Hatfield, who represents Evansville at the statehouse, says he will resign from the seat and run for Vanderburgh County Circuit Court judge.
Hatfield’s announcement followed yesterday’s (Wed) announcement by Judge David Kiely, who said he would not seek another term this fall.
In a release, Hatfield announced a committee of more than 70 local attorneys supporting his candidacy for judge.
The Evansville Democrat has represented the city in the Indiana House since 2016.
Hatfield decided against a run for Evansville Mayor in 2023.
