Newburgh Police: The suspect had a medical emergency while being booked

Newburgh Police say a man died after having a "medical issue" while being booked into the Warrick County jail. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Police say the man and a woman led police on a brief chase Monday morning.

While booking the couple into jail, officers determined the man needed to be taken to the hospital because of a “medical issue.”

Police say officers called for EMS and performed lifesaving measures but the efforts were “unsuccessful."

Indiana State Police were called in to investigate the death.

The coroner’s office has not yet released the man’s name.

Police said the couple threw items out of their vehicle during the pursuit.
