Judge Kiely to Retire at End of Year

File

The Vanderburgh County judge has been on the bench for 26 years

There will be at least one vacant judicial seat in this year’s Vanderburgh County elections. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Judge David Kiely says he will not run for re-election in Vanderburgh Circuit Court.

Kiely says he will retire at the end of 2024 after 26 years on the bench, serving in both Superior and Circuit courts.

He’s credited with creating the first Veterans Treatment Court in the State of Indiana, electronic search warrants in Vanderburgh County, the county’s Therapeutic Work Release Program, and with $5.5 million of court space renovations.

The Evansville Bar Association awarded the James Bethel Gresham Freedom Award to Kiely.
