Just five hours into the New Year, the City of Evansville saw its first homicide of 2024. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The EPD says officers were dispatched to the 400 block of E. Riverside Dr. near Governor St., just after 5:00 New Year’s Morning, in reference to shots fired.
Sgt. Anna Gray says they found an adult male victim outside with an apparent gunshot wound.
Gray says the man was beyond help and already deceased before officers arrived.
EPD Detectives and the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene.
The coroner has not yet released the victim’s name.
No arrests have been made and police ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact detectives at 812-436- 7979 or the EPD Tip Line at 812-435-6194.
