Man Sentenced for Online Child Abuse

File

Seth Harms, 31, faces 6 years in federal prison and 5 years on probation

A Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for sharing videos of child sexual abuse. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

31-year-old Seth Harms pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Harms sent multiple videos and images of sexual abuse to others using an online platform in 2021.

Police say Harms admitted to using the platform to communicate with other individuals who would send him internet file links for sexual material involving children.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard also sentenced Harms to be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years after his release from prison.

Harms will also have to register as a sex offender wherever he lives, works, or goes to school.
