Man Sentenced for Killing Couple

File

Arthur Jones IV, 31, faces a prison sentence of 145 years

An Evansville man has been sentenced to 145 years in prison for a double murder. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

A jury convicted 31-year-old Arthur Jones IV last month for the 2021 shooting deaths of Derek Johnson and Samantha Robbins on Lodge Avenue.

Judge Les Shively sentenced Jones Friday to 65 years on each murder count and another 15 years for being a habitual offender.

During last month’s trial, Jones’ mother was removed from the courtroom due to outbursts and Judge Shively threatened to remove Jones himself due to his outbursts during witness testimony.

Three young children were in the home when their parents were killed.

Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Diana Moers described them as “critical witnesses” in the case.
