Owensboro police arrested a juvenile suspected of sending a text message that threatened a school shooting. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Police were called to Owensboro High School Wednesday afternoon and the principal advised she received a screenshot of a text message from a faculty member.
The OPD says the message was apparently from a student using a Text Now App, stating he was going to commit a shooting at school the next day.
Police say detectives made contact with the student who allegedly sent the text message and learned another individual was posing as that student.
The OPD says detectives tracked down the actual sender of the text at his home, questioned him and took him into custody.
The juvenile was charged and transported to a Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green on a charge of Terroristic Threatening.
The OPD says the juvenile has previously faced charges including Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, Burglary, and Assault.
