Suspect Arrested for ATM Theft

VCSO
Dmyree Martin, 21

Dmyree Martin, 21, of Katy, Texas is believed to be a member of a gang that breaks into ATMs

A man suspected of breaking into an ATM on Evansville’s West Side has been arrested in Texas. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The early morning break-in happened at the Heritage Federal Credit Union on Pearl Drive back in August.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says when deputies arrived they found an abandoned pick-up truck that had been used to pull the credit union’s ATM off its pedestal.

The ATM had been broken into and the money removed. The truck was later found to have been stolen from Henderson.

After a lengthy multi-agency investigation using surveillance cameras and Flock system license plate readers, authorities arrested 21-year-old Dmyree Martin of Katy, TX.

Martin is believed to be a member of the Greenheart Gang based in Lafayette, LA.

Sheriff Noah Robinson says members of the gang are known to conduct robberies of ATMs throughout the South and Midwest.

Robinson thanked the Evansville Police Department. He says the EPD’s use of the Flock Safety system identified the suspect vehicle and “broke the case.”

Robinson is looking for community partners to expand the Flock system across Vanderburgh County.
