An economic development official says another effort will be made to reach more residents about their priorities for the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The firm Sasaki released the first highlights of its Ohio River Vision and Strategic Plan this week.
At the top of the survey was quality of life, listed as a priority by nearly half of the more than 2,700 respondents.
It was followed by investment in parks, recreation, and public spaces; recreation and community activities; economic improvement; and environmental quality.
Vanderburgh County Commission President Cheryl Musgrave noted that most of the respondents had college degrees and higher income:
Musgrave: "So it's pretty lopsided response." Armstrong: "It's a very educated and affluent group that responded."
The head of the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District, Joshua Armstrong, said another survey will be conducted:
"We're taking steps to ensure a deeper outreach into other communities for survey no. 2 which will happen in October."
The survey focuses on the region from Newburgh to Mt. Vernon.
Initial results were presented to County Commissioners on Tuesday.
