A young Indianapolis man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving 124 miles an hour on I-69 Tuesday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says a Pike County Officer tried to catch up to the speeding Fiat Alfa Romeo near the 40 mile marker.
A Gibson County deputy later spotted the sports car driving 105 miles an hour at the 22 mile marker and successfully pulled the car over.
Authorities say the deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and began a roadside drug investigation.
They arrested the 21-year-old driver, Donavan Golder of Indianapolis, and took him to the Gibson County Jail.
Golder was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 30 grams with a Prior Conviction, Driving While Suspended, and Reckless Driving.
He later posted bond.
Police have stopped numerous drivers going in excess of 100 miles an hour on rural parts of I-69 since the highway opened in southwest Indiana.
