Arson is suspected in a fire that damaged an East Side storage facility. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Evansville firefighters were dispatched to Storage Express in the 4800 block of Tippecanoe Drive at about 9:00 Wednesday night.
EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says the first companies to arrive reported heavy fire coming from several of the units.
Larson says the blaze was concentrated in four of the storage units, but 20 of the 50 were damaged.
The fire was considered extinguished in about an hour and there may be smoke damage through the rest of the structure.
Larson says there were no injuries and two adjacent storage buildings were undamaged.
He says the fire cause is under investigation and Evansville Police were requested for an arson report.
