Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Daviess County jail. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Officials said deputies responded to a physical fight involving inmates at the detention center on Saturday.
On Sunday, 22-year-old inmate Darius Quarles collapsed.
An EMS crew attempted life-saving efforts, but Quarles died at a hospital a short time later.
KSP Trooper Corey King told reporters that video showed Quarles collapsing on his own, without anyone touching him.
King says Quarles was involved in the earlier fight but it was not clear if that was the cause of his death.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
