Authorities are praising a license plate camera system for locating a non-custodial mother and four missing children in Warrick County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The sheriff’s office says 27-year-old Danielle Cleary of Bancroft, Nebraska drove into Warrick County Sunday morning -- and didn’t go unnoticed.
Four children were in her car, all boys, ages 9, 8, 5, and 2. The children were reported missing.
Cleary’s car triggered a “missing persons” alert on the county’s FLOCK camera system, deputies searched for the vehicle, found it, and stopped it on State Road 61 near French Road.
The sheriff’s office says an investigation revealed Cleary had been on a supervised visit with the children and drove through the night with the kids, who were reported missing by their legal guardians.
Warrick County Sheriff Michael Wilder said the FLOCK system is best known for locating stolen cars, but he says this time, “it found something far more important.”
The children were turned over to the Indiana Department of Child Services to be returned to their legal guardians.
Cleary was arrested for violating a custody order. She’s is being held at the Warrick County jail on a $250,000 bond.
