White was captured and Vicky White killed herself in Evansville after fleeing an Alabama prison

An Alabama prisoner has been sentenced to life in prison for escaping with the help of a jail official who ultimately took her own life in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Casey White told an Alabama courtroom Thursday that he felt like the most hated man in the world, but said he wouldn’t drag corrections officer Vicky White’s name “through the dirt.”

He said Vicky White, who was not related to him, was the first person who cared about him in six years.

Casey White apologized for the escape, saying the pair just wanted a new life together.

They hid out in Evansville for several days before police closed in and Vicky White shot herself to death.

Casey White still faces a trial in August for a 2015 murder.
