A longtime LGBTQ leader in the Evansville area has died. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The Tri-State Alliance says its former president, Wally Paynter, died just days after his 56th birthday.
The alliance says his sister found Paynter deceased at home after he failed to report to work on Tuesday.
On its Facebook page, the TSA called Paynter “an incredibly devoted and hardworking activist, the truest of friend, and an inspirational leader.”
The alliance said his persistence for human rights brought an “unfathomable amount of progress to the region and beyond.”
TSA officials said they were shocked by the news of Paynter’s death and will work to “carry on his purpose.”
