Henderson Police say an autopsy has confirmed the identity of an escapee found in the Ohio River. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Police say the body pulled from the river Sunday afternoon was that of convicted double-murderer Bradley Gillespie.
The HPD says a medical examiner also ruled that the 50-year-old Gillespie drowned in the river.
He had been the subject of an intense manhunt that began last week.
Gillespie and 47-year-old James Marion Lee escaped last Tuesday from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio.
Police captured Lee after a vehicle pursuit in Henderson last Wednesday, but Gillespie got away.
It’s not clear if the boater who found Gillespie’s body will receive any reward money.
Law enforcement agencies offered up to $30,000 for information leading to Gillespie’s arrest.
