Manhunt Ends After Body Recovered from Ohio

File

The body believed to be escapee Bradley Gillespie was pulled from the river Sunday afternoon

Henderson authorities believe they have recovered the body of an Ohio prison escapee from the Ohio River. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The body pulled from the river north of Downtown Henderson Sunday afternoon is believed to be that of convicted double-murderer Bradley Gillespie.

The 50-year-old Gillespie had been the subject of a manhunt that began last week when another escapee was captured in Henderson.

Henderson County Coroner Bruce Farmer said an autopsy was scheduled for today (Tues) to confirm the identity of the body, the time of death, and the cause of death.

Henderson Police Chief Sean McKinney told a news conference that tattoos on the body match those of Gillespie.

Gillespie and 47-year-old James Marion Lee escaped last Tuesday from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio.

Police captured Lee in Henderson on Wednesday but Gillespie got away and was the subject of an intense five-day manhunt.
