Macerich Properties

No shots were fired during an altercation at the mall Saturday night

Two juveniles were arrested but no one was hurt after reports of shots fired at Eastland Mall. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Evansville Police say two officers were sitting in the mall parking lot Saturday evening when they saw people running out of the mall yelling “shots were fired.’

EPD Sgt. Anna Gray says Central Dispatch began receiving calls of a large fight involving guns.

Officers rushed in and located the scene and two Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies who were working off-duty in the mall also responded.

The deputies said they never heard any shots.

Officers obtained descriptions of the suspects and Eastland Mall was put on lockdown and evacuated.

During the search, an extended handgun magazine was found near the center of the mall.

Four males matching the description of the suspects were detained, two of which had fled outside. A handgun was also found outside.

During the investigation it was determined no shots were fired in Eastland Mall.

A total of five males were transported to EPD headquarters for questioning and two juveniles were arrested. Security footage was being reviewed and Gray said more arrests were possible.
