We expect to learn more Wednesday afternoon about a federal investigation into the Pigeon Township Trustee’s Office. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will announce an indictment as part of a public corruption investigation related to what the feds call “Township Government in Southwest Indiana.”
The Pigeon Township Trustee’s Office, led by Trustee Mariama Wilson, has been under investigation since at least last July, when authorities collected financial records and interviewed Pigeon Township staff.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, Zachary Myers, says the probe and prosecution will demonstrate a – quote – “ongoing commitment to combatting public corruption and defending tax dollars.”
Myers says those who violate that trust will be “held accountable.”
