An Evansville man has pleaded guilty to drug dealing that contributed to the death of another man. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office says Richard Barnes III pleaded guilty to dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death.
The plea followed an extensive investigation connecting him to the death of Zeke Biggs from a drug overdose in March 2022.
An autopsy and toxicology results determined Biggs died of fentanyl intoxication.
In a release, Prosecutor Diana Moers said drug dealers in Vanderburgh County should be aware that they will be held responsible.
She noted state law allows investigators to prosecute and obtain substantial sentences for people who deal drugs resulting in death.
Barnes’ sentencing hearing is set for May 8th.
