It's part of a DEA program to reduce drug abuse and theft

You have an opportunity to safely dispose of old prescription drugs this weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Indiana State Police are taking part in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Prescription Drug Take Back initiative on Saturday.

The ISP will accept unused or expired prescription medications at their post on Highway 41 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with no questions asked.

Authorities say the Take Back program is for liquid and pill medications. Vaping pens without batteries and vaping cartridges will be accepted but needles will NOT.

The goal of the “Take Back” initiative is to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft.

Collection sites will be set up nationwide.
