Wrong-Way Crash Kills 1, Injures Another

File

The early morning crash on US 41 near Baseline Road blocked traffic for hours

An apparent wrong-way crash claimed a life on Highway 41 in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The two-vehicle collision happened just before 3:30 this (Fri) morning on 41 near Baseline Road.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says the crash was reported one minute after Central Dispatch put out a report a wrong-way driver in that area.

Investigators believe one of the vehicles was driving northbound in the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into the other.

The sheriff’s office says one of the drivers died at the scene.

The other driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and toxicology testing in accordance with state law.

There was no word on the names of the persons involved in the crash as of mid-afternoon Friday.
