Nicole Ann Bell, 26, died in the crash after fleeing deputies on the Lloyd Expressway

A woman is dead after a police pursuit and crash in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies tried to stop a westbound car on the Lloyd Expressway between Stockwell and Boeke roads Thursday.

The office says the car had an expired license plate and the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and two misdemeanor warrants.

Authorities say the driver didn’t stop and after a short chase, exited the Lloyd at Willow Street and continued west on Division Street.

The sheriff’s office says the driver lost control while trying to turn onto Harlan Ave., left the roadway, and hit a pedestrian overpass.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Nicole Ann Bell of Evansville, died from her injuries.

The coroner’s office said an autopsy for Bell was scheduled for Sunday.

The sheriff’s office says an investigation continues.
