Suspect in Union Township Shooting Charged

File

Austin Ousley, 18, is accused of killing Shawn Wildt, 36, and critically wounding his brother, Chad Wildt, 42, in February

An 18-year-old has been charged with murder and attempted murder after last month’s shooting in the Union Township Bottoms. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Sherriff’s Office says 18-year-old Austin Ousley faces charges for the death of 36-year-old Shawn Wildt and the wounding of 42-year-old Chad Wildt at a home on Cypress Dale Road.

Investigators said officers later found Ousely in his vehicle. He had shot himself in the head.

Ousley is reported in stable condition at an Indianapolis hospital.

The sheriff’s office says a juvenile suspect in the shooting gave a statement, which combined with admissions by Ousley, led detectives to charge the juvenile for entering the home.

The juvenile remains in custody.

Authorities say the warrant against Ousley will remain unserved until his condition improves.
