Ricky Allen Kiper Jr., 34, pleaded guilty in January to killing James Christopher McClernon, 41

An Evansville man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison following a murder. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office says 34-year-old Ricky Allen Kiper Jr. was sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder and an additional 15 years for a habitual offender enhancement.

Kiper pleaded guilty last month as his trial was getting underway for the July 2022 fatal shooting of 41-year-old James Christopher McClernon.

McClernon was shot in the 5900 block of Maggie Valley Drive, in a mobile home park where both men lived.

In as release, Prosecutor Diana Moers said she was “very proud” of her office, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, and Evansville Police for their work leading to Kiper’s guilty plea and sentencing.
