William Levon Hutchins, 35, died after being hit by a car on University Parkway

An Evansville man is dead after a crash involving a scooter in western Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 35-year-old William Levon Hutchins.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says the scooter ridden by Hutchins was hit by a car on University Parkway near Hogue Road Sunday night.

The sheriff’s office says the first deputy on the scene called for assistance and began attempting life saving measures.

Hutchins was taken to Deaconess Midtown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.

The driver of the car was not injured, but was taken to a hospital for a chemical test in accordance with Indiana law regarding fatal crashes.

The cause and manner of Hutchin’s death are pending an autopsy and toxicology results.
